The Peregrine Fund Research Library
A large ornithological/conservation biology library with a searchable catalogue of book and separates collections and an inventory of journal and magazine holdings. Free PDF copies of articles in the collection may be obtained for one-time scholarly use by contacting library@peregrinefund.org.
 

Raptor Information System
A large, freely accessible bibliographic database with particular emphasis on raptor management, human impacts on raptors, the mitigation of adverse impacts, and basic raptor biology. The database now contains over 33,000 records. Created by Dr. Richard "Butch" Olendorff, the RIS was maintained in Boise, Idaho by the U.S. Geological Survey until recently, when it was moved to The Peregrine Fund's World Center for Birds of Prey. The print resources of the RIS are presently being integrated into The Peregrine Fund Research Library. The RIS electronic database will be maintained online until the records are integrated into the GRIN bibliographic database. Requests for PDFs of publications in the RIS database should now be sent to library@peregrinefund.org.
 

Ornithological Worldwide Literature (OWL)
An electronic database of citations and abstracts from the worldwide ornithological literature, containing 80,000 citations back to 1983. OWL is a joint effort between the American Ornithologists' Union, Birds Australia, and the British Ornithologists' Union and is hosted by the Edward Grey Institute of Field Ornithology at Oxford University.
 

Searchable Ornithological Research Archive (SORA)
An open access electronic journal archive initiated by Dr. Blair Wolf and the Cooper Ornithological Society. The contents of the site now include Auk (1884-1999), Condor (1899-2000), Journal of Field Ornithology (1930-2000), North American Bird Bander (1976-2000), Ornithological Monographs (1964-2005), Ornitologia Neotropical (1990-2002), Pacific Coast Avifauna (1900-1974), Studies in Avian Biology (1978-1999), Western Birds (1970-2004), and Wilson Bulletin (1889-1999),
 

Raptors of South America
This is an exciting new website which serves as an online field guide to the 96 species of diurnal raptors occurring in South America. The soon-to-be published print version of the guide will be 500 pp long and richly illustrated with 100 color plates and hundreds of color photos.

The most authoritative source for North American avian taxonomy and nomenclature. Maintained by the American Ornithologists' Union Committee on Classification and Nomenclature of North and Middle American Birds (NACC).
 

South American Classification Committee
The South American Classification Committee is a committee of the American Ornithologists' Union whose mission is to create a standard classification, with English names, for the bird species of South America.
 

ORNIS
A massive database containing the combined bird data from 35 North American providers, mostly museums.
 

BIRDNET
BIRDNET provides information about ornithology and is a service of the Ornithological Council, a consortium of 11 Western Hemisphere professional societies.
